Professional headshot of Ross Mallioux, independent banking and lending consultant with over 40 years of experience

For more than 40 years, my career has been spent inside community and regional financial institutions, working directly in lending, operations, and executive leadership roles. I’ve worked in environments with small teams, limited resources, and high expectations — where decisions have real consequences for customers, staff, regulators, and boards.

My experience spans consumer and mortgage lending, credit risk, operations, and the adoption of technology over multiple industry cycles. I began my career when most lending processes were manual and have worked through each wave of change leading to today’s increasingly digital environment. That long view shapes how I think about decision-making, change, and what realistically works inside an institution.

I understand the challenges institutions face because I’ve lived them. Most are not struggling due to lack of effort or commitment. More often, complexity grows faster than day-to-day operations can absorb. My role, whether as a leader or an advisor, has always been to help teams step back, regain clarity, and move forward in a practical way.

I enjoy working with people, and I believe this is fundamentally a people business. The most successful institutions I’ve worked with are led by individuals who care deeply about serving customers while supporting their teams. That mindset has shaped my career and continues to guide how I work today.
